The national economy of Guangdong Province is advancing on a sustainable, speedy and healthy track. Its comprehensive economic strength have been ahead of other provinces for many years, and always takes the leading position in Mainland China in important economic indicators such as GDP, gross retail sales of social consumer goods, added value of industry output, inhabitant deposit, tax, financial revenue, amount of investment of fixed assets, amount of freight transport, amount of patent application of technological invention, etc.

With a spirit of opening up and forging ahead, Guangdong actively participates in international division of labor, makes effort to be in line with international practices, and has formed an all-directional, multi-layered and wide-ranging opening pattern. Its achievement in export-oriented economy has been the focus of worldwide attention. Its export & import trade has always been the first place for successive 21 years, and the accumulative absorption of foreign investments accounts for more than a quarter of the total of Mainland China. It has already become one of the regions which, in present China, has the fastest speed of economic development and the most mature foreign economic & trades system; meanwhile, it is the most vigorous in marketing and the most attractive for foreign investments.

Guided by the general principle of scientific development, Guangdong will endeavor to speed up the all-round development, building a province of strong economy and profound culture, a society under the rule of law and a place of harmony, as well as building the socialist new rural area, to eventually realize the healthy, well-off life of the whole province. Furthermore, Guangdong will continue acting as the pioneer of development in China, taking steps to optimize the economic structure, change the growth mode, strengthen self-innovation, and expand the opening up, so as to lead the economic society toward a rapid and harmonious development.
