The co-host country mechanism was adopted starting from the 2nd CISMEF in 2004, i.e., inviting a country which is economically complementary with China, powerful in SMEs and with sound policy and service system for SMEs, to co-host each edition of CISMEF with China.

The co-host country system is conducive to enhancing the country¡¯s national image, further strengthening and consolidating the economic and trade relations between the country and China, promoting the cooperation and exchange between their SMEs and Chinese SMEs, and meanwhile offering a most direct and effective opportunity for the country¡¯s products, technologies, capital and services to enter the China market. The past co-host countries of CISMEF are France, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Spain, successively. Australia will serve as co-host of CISMEF 2010.
