A briefing was held in Beijing on March 27th, 2009, to promote the 6th CISMEF and the Hall for ASEM SMEs Cooperation and Exchange thereof. About 120 Representatives from embassies of ASEM members in China, chambers of commerce, foreign banks, enterprises attended the event.
Mr. Wu Feng, Deputy Director of the CISMEF Organizing Committee Secretariat and Deputy Director-General of the Economic and Trade Commission of Guangdong Province, told the audience the preparations for the 6th CISMEF and its overall plans. According to Mr. Wu, the 6th CISMEF has four features. First, the co-host country mechanism continues. Second, the Fair is getting more international. Third, the business matching is to be more effective. Fourth, the exhibition will be more specialized.
Mr. Ignacio Mezquita, Commercial Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in China, presented the preparations for the 6th CISMEF on behalf of the Spanish party. According to Mr. Mezquita, Spain, the co-host country, will count on a 10,000 sq m hall, in which, both parties will co-organize the Spain-China SME Meeting. The Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce will come to the opening of the Fair and of the bilateral SME meeting, together with the Chinese authorities. Spain will try to bring 150 companies and some 10 to 15 institutions. They will concentrate on the following sectors.
l Biotechnology, pharmacy and medical equipment
l Machine-tool, industrial components and materials
l Information Technology
l Engineering and architecture services
l Franchises (modern restoration, fashion, etc.)
l Food and Beverage Industry
l Education
l Tourism
l Services.
Mr. Tian Chuan, Director of International Cooperation Division of SMEs Department of Ministry of industry and information Technology modulated the briefing and answered the questions raised by the audience together with Mr. Yang Yang, Director-General of the Bureau of CISMEF.
