During the visit of the CISMEF Delegation to Spain from March 31st to April 2nd, 2009, three briefings on the 6th CISMEF were held in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona respectively. The events won great support from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade of Spain (MITYC), the Spanish Institution for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and local chambers of commerce. More than 200 Spanish enterprises attended the briefings.
On March 31, the CISMEF delegation visited the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the Spanish Institution for Foreign Trade on invitation. Ms. Silvia Iranzo, Commercial Secretary of Spain, Mr. Juan Miguel M¨¢rouez , Director of Service Promotion Division of ICEX and other officials met with the delegation. Mr. Zhu Bangzao, Chinese Ambassador in Spain, Mr. Yan Hui, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain and Mr. Jiang Minghui, Second Secretary, were present at the meeting and later attended the briefing held in Madrid. Mr. Zhu Bangzao made an overview of the Sino-Spanish economic and trade relations in his speech during the briefing. He retraced that the Chinese government had taken a series of measures to advance the balanced development of the bilateral trade cooperation. He also pointed out that it is of great significance for China and Spain to co-host the 6th CISMEF. He hoped Spain might showcase its distinctive products, advanced craftsmanship, technologies, and equipment and seize the opportunity to enter the Chinese market.
Mr. Yang Yang, head of the CISMEF delegation and Director-General of the Bureau of CISMEF, delivered a speech on the topic of ¡°Boundless Business Opportunities All at CISMEF¡± in each briefing. The ICEX representative made a detailed introduction to the arrangements on the Spanish part in co-hosting the 6th CISMEF. Both parties answered questions raised by the audience. CISMEF turned out to be quite popular among the enterprises present. Most of them expressed their great interest in participating in the 6th CISMEF. The three briefings turned out to be a great success.
According to the ICEX representative, other promotional activities will also be held in 8 provinces in Spain after the departure of the CISMEF delegation. They will make efforts to specify their work plan and prepared for their visit to Guangzhou in mid-May, for specific arrangements of the co-hosting. Meanwhile, they hoped that the Chinese party might provide assistance in business matching, free on-site translation, the list of the Chinese exhibitors, custom declaration and inspection, and co-hosted activities.
